Level 2 Lazy Leash
Step 1
The dog moves away from pressure on the collar.
1. With collar and leash on, BUT NOT USING IT, have her come over and sit in front of you
2. Pick up the leash in your left hand, holding it as close to the collar as you can (just off leash snap)
3. Put a tiny bit of pressure on it, pulling gently to your left. (Invite her to move sideways, not forward.
4. If she shifts her weight to your left or moves a paw to your left to take the pressure off her collar for even an instant, C/T
5. If she leans into the pressure, making it worse, do nothing. Keep pressure on. Let her think about her problem.
6. C/T even the slightest release of pressure
7. Start again. C/T when she does anything to release the gentle pressure you're placing
8. When she releases pressure automatically, ask for more: if she leans toward you with slight pressure, hold pressure anyway, C/T when she leans harder or takes a step to relieve the pressure.
BMO Behavior
Can she step into your right to release pressure? come forward? back up?
